17th October 2021 – Mark Watson

“We’ve all had some pondering to do about the fragility of life recently, but don’t worry, skinny national treasure Mark Watson has it covered.  At 41, he’s halfway through his days on earth, according to the life expectancy calculator app he paid £1.49 for. That life is in the best shape in living memory… but one problem remains, and it really is a huge one.”

Show Title: This Can’t Be It
Location: Komedia, Bath
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: Our first live show again after Covid-19 put our lives on hold for 18 months. More photos available on the “Celebrity Encounters” page.

5th February 2022 – Stewart Lee

“Two new 60-minute sets, back to back: Tornado questions Stew’s position in the comedy marketplace after Netflix mistakenly lists his show as ‘reports of sharks falling from the skies are on the rise again. Nobody on the Eastern Seaboard is safe’.  Snowflake questions Stew’s worth in a society demolishing the liberal values he has been keen to espouse in a fairy-tale landscape of winter wonder.”

Show Title: Snowflake/Tornado
Location: Westlands, Yeovil
With: Wesley Mead

24th February 2022 – Milton Jones

One man. One Mission. Is it possible? No, not really. Milton reveals the truth about being an international spy, before being given a disappointing new identity which forced him to appear on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo. But this is also a love story with the twist, or even a really bad sprain. Just gloriously daft nonsense or is there a deeper meaning? Every man has his price. Sainsburys, where good food costs less.

Show Title: Milton Impossible
Location: Civic Centre, Trowbridge
With: Wesley Mead, Amelia Mead, Paul Jackson

20th March 2022 – The Fratellis

Comment: As the ticket shows, this was originally meant to be in April 2020. Due to Covid-19 it got rescheduled first to October 2020, then May 2021, then finally March 2022. We were determined not to let this pandemic ruin our plans any longer… so of course we inevitably caught Covid at the show, and then had to cancel our plans for the following week (Barenaked Ladies, and Ed Gamble). #YouWearYourMaskI’llWearMine #WeNeedMedicineAndWeNeedItNow

Tour Title: Half Drunk Under a Full Moon
Location: O2 Academy, Bristol
With: Wesley Mead

The Fratellis Setlist O2 Academy Bristol, Bristol, England 2022, Half Drunk Under a Full Moon

25th May 2022 – Brian Fallon

Comment: Much like The Fratellis in March, this show had been rescheduled multiple times due to Covid-19. From May 2020, to February 2021, to December 2021, and then finally, 2 years after the original date, it went ahead in May 2022. It was worth the wait, and Brian was on fire – laughing and joking with the audience and telling stories about Bruce Springsteen

30th June 2022 – Lou Sanders

“It’s me again, your old internet friend Dr Giggles. It’s time for a little get together; so pull up a chair, get all cosy and let me tell you about the time I gave this horse a boner. I’ll bring my skates, you bring your wallet and we’ll all take some piccies.”

Show Title: One Word Wow
Location: Komedia, Bath
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: We apparently missed some excitement just before we arrived, as Lou had a stalker arrested!

25th July 2022 – Olga Koch & Paul Williams

Join New Zealand’s fastest comedian (5km and 10km) for an enchanting afternoon In the Moonlight. The show includes music, romance and even photos. He’s been on TV, starring in the critically reviewed Taskmaster New Zealand. Good for all ages but if you’re really old, please only come if you promise to stay calm.

“Olga Koch brings you the rollercoaster romcom you aren’t tall enough to ride. Strap in.”

Show Title: In The Moonlight (Paul Williams), Just Friends (Olga Koch)
Location: Komedia, Brighton
With: Wesley Mead

Comment: We were so excited when we saw that Paul was coming to the UK, and immediately bought tickets for the London show. Unfortunately when the date arrived, the country was going through an extreme heat wave, and our train was cancelled due to the 40 degree temperature! Luckily he still had a show planned for Brighton the following week, but there were no trains leaving Brighton late enough to get home, so I ended up having to drive the 6 hour round trip, getting home at 2am on a work night! It was so worth it though – the show was amazing, and we even got some new songs. More photos available on the “Celebrity Encounte” page.

19th August 2022 – Derren Brown

“With his first brand new theatre show in six years, Derren Brown returns to astonish and amaze audiences up and down the country. The content of Showman remains a closely-guarded secret, but if you’ve seen him before, you know you’re in for a powerhouse treat!”

Show Title: Showman
Location: Bournemouth Pavilion
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: Yet another show delayed by over a year due to Covid – it was worth the wait though, as always with Derren. Unfortunately, we’ve spent far too much time watching Penn and Teller: Fool Us to be quite so easily fooled by his clever mind games these days, so we ruined some of it for ourselves by figuring out how he did his main trick!

21st August 2022 – The Gaslight Anthem

Tour Title: World Tour 2022
Location: O2 Academy, Birmingham
With: Wesley Mead
Support: Chris Farren

The Gaslight Anthem Setlist O2 Academy, Birmingham, England, World Tour 2022

10th September 2022 – Dave Hause

Comment: My first time venturing outside my comfort zone after badly breaking my shoulder (proximal humerus) two weeks before. Dave started crowd surfing at one point and I was hoping he didn’t head our way, as my arm in a sling wouldn’t have been able to help at all!

Tour Title: European Tour 2022
Location: Thekla, Bristol
With: Wesley Mead

Dave Hause Setlist Thekla, Bristol, England, European Tour September 2022

18th September 2022 – Dave Gorman

The “high priest of the comedy Powerpoint talk” (The Times) is touring again – as much as anything to demonstrate that a powerpoint presentation doesn’t have to involve a man in a grey suit standing behind a lectern and saying ‘next slide please’. We’ve all had enough of that, so let’s put it all behind us and never speak of it again – there are far more important things to analyse. Well… they’re more important in Dave’s head anyway.

Show Title: Powerpoint to the People
Location: Octagon Theatre, Yeovil
With: Wesley Mead

10th October 2022 – Natalie Imbruglia

Comment: This show was one of the best we’ve been to. Nat was so energetic on stage, and her voice was perfect. She even pointed at us and put her thumb up when she saw us singing all the words. As soon as we left we were looking for tickets to go again, literally while walking to the train station.

Tour Title: Left of the Middle 25th Anniversary Tour
Location: SWX, Bristol
With: Wesley Mead

Natalie Imbruglia Setlist SWX, Bristol, England 2022, Left of the Middle 25th Anniversary Tour

29th October 2022 – Good Luck Studio

“It’s the final night recording Wibble the Dragon. The show is massively over budget and under written. With one hour left to film 16 pages and an audience of children getting more and more impatient, the cast and crew know big cuddly heads are going to roll. The last thing anyone needs is a failed actor showing up with a sinister vendetta and his own dragon costume. In this adult take on a kids’ TV show more than just careers will die.”

Location: Salisbury Playhouse
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: Another brilliant show from Mischief Theatre. A slightly darker theme this time, but still full of misunderstandings all coming together in the second half for a hilarious payoff.

24th November 2022 – My Neighbour Totoro

Winner of six Olivier Awards and five WhatsOnStage Awards, this “utterly beguiling” (The Stage) and “jaw-dropping” (Metro) staging of the celebrated 1988 animated feature film is brought to you by the Royal Shakespeare Company and Executive Producer Joe Hisaishi, in collaboration with Improbable and Nippon TV and adapted by Tom Morton-Smith (Oppenheimer). Hailed as “a tender and remarkably beautiful show” (Financial Times), My Neighbour Totoro is an enchanting coming-of-age story exploring the magical fantasy world of childhood and the transformative power of imagination, as it follows one extraordinary summer in the lives of sisters Satsuki and Mei. Book soon for this unmissable, “huge, healing hug of a show” (The Stage).

Location: Barbican Theatre, London
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: This show was just pure magic and wonder. It was everything we’d heard it would be and more. The puppets were so cleverly designed and controlled, and the whole audience was wide eyed in amazement throughout.

26th November 2022 – Harriet Kemsley

Fed up with being told how to look and behave since she was a teenager, Harriet is taking a long hard squint at the beauty industry through her two remaining false eye lashes.

Show Title: Honeysuckle Island
Location: Pound Arts, Corsham
With: Wesley Mead
Support: Bella Hull
Comment: Harriet was really funny – better than we expected to be honest. The crowd was awful though, and clearly really off-putting for her. We tweeted at her afterwards about it, and she replied.

7th December 2022 – Mike Wozniak

“Ever wondered how Mike’s Great-Aunt Zusa made it from Poland to Luton with a war nipping at her heels? Here’s your chance to find out.”

Show Title: Zusa
Location: Alma Theatre, Bristol
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: This was the smallest theatre we’d ever been to – if the chairs were any closer to the microphone then he might as well have performed his show sat on our laps. A great show to end our year on.
