Mischief Theatre

24th June 2017 – The Play That Goes Wrong

The Cornley Drama Society are putting on a 1920s murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong… does! The accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it through to their final curtain call, with hilarious consequences!

Location: Duchess Theatre, London
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: So cleverly done – we were in stitches all the way through. We were excited to see Penn Jillette in the audience too, which we later found out led to the creation of Magic Goes Wrong.

21st July 2018 – The Comedy About A Bank Robbery

Summer 1958. Minneapolis City Bank has been entrusted with a priceless diamond. An escaped convict is dead set on pocketing the gem with the help of his screwball sidekick, trickster girlfriend… and the maintenance man. With mistaken identities, love triangles and hidden agendas, even the most reputable can’t be trusted.

Location: Criterion Theatre, London
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: This play was even funnier than The Play That Goes Wrong, and immediately confirmed Mischief Theatre as a firm favourite.

27th December 2019 – Magic Goes Wrong

“Join a hapless gang of moderately skilled and accident-prone magicians presenting a charity fundraiser. As the accidents spiral out of control, so does their fundraising target! Created with Magic legends Penn & Teller, this evening of grand illusion with breath-taking tricks and typical Mischief comedy will tickle your funny bones and fill you with wonder.

Location: Vaudeville Theatre, London
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: This is the show Penn was preparing for when we saw him in the audience at The Play That Goes Wrong.

3rd July – 11th July 2021 – Mischief Movie Night In

“Every show is different with you suggesting a genre, location and title, and Mischief hilariously bring the show to life, complete with rewinds, fast forwards, directors cuts and a thrilling live score to laugh along to. Starring them, directed by you, Mischief Movie Night is a guaranteed comedy blockbuster!”

Location: Riverside Studios, London (Streamed)
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: The Mischief team are the ones behind The Play That Goes Wrong etc, so we were excited to support their Covid-19 live stream venture – a fully interactive improvisation, with suggestions incorporated from social media. It was so much better than we even imagined, with full song and dance routines included, all made up on the spot. We bought tickets to as many of their shows throughout July as we could, and they were all hilarious.

29th October 2022 – Good Luck Studio

“It’s the final night recording Wibble the Dragon. The show is massively over budget and under written. With one hour left to film 16 pages and an audience of children getting more and more impatient, the cast and crew know big cuddly heads are going to roll. The last thing anyone needs is a failed actor showing up with a sinister vendetta and his own dragon costume. In this adult take on a kids’ TV show more than just careers will die.”

Location: Salisbury Playhouse
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: Another brilliant show from Mischief Theatre. A slightly darker theme this time, but still full of misunderstandings all coming together in the second half for a hilarious payoff.

8th January 2023 – The Mind Mangler

Join the ‘Mind Mangler’ as he returns to the stage following a disappointing two-night run at the Luton Holiday Inn conference centre, suite 2b. His new solo spectacular is predicted to spiral into chaos as he attempts to read your mind…

Show Title: Member of the Tragic Circle
Location: Wyvern Theatre, Swindon
With: Wesley Mead
Comment: The show was amazing – so funny. Wes got picked on to write down an “object” which Henry Lewis kept coming back to throughout the show to try and guess. The big reveal right at the end of the show was him guessing it correctly with a written prediction which had been “in a box on stage the whole time”. Of course Wes can’t follow instructions, so had written “that well known object” – aardvark – which did get a big laugh from the audience at least. More photos available on the “Celebrity Encounters” page.

We’d only been expecting to be able to meet Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer, so it was an added bonus to have Henry Shields show up. Even though they weren’t doing official meet and greets, they were really happy to chat to fans outside and take photos.

7th October 2023 – Celebrity Encounters

We knew Neil Patrick Harris liked Phantom Peak as he’d tweeted about it before, but we didn’t expect to see him there, let alone with Henry Lewis and Henry Shields (from Mischief Theatre). We spent hours debating whether to approach him, and then braved it just before the closing ceremony. We’d met Henry and Henry before and complimented them on their work with Mischief at the time, so this time we focused on the escape room side of things and told Henry Lewis how much we loved his Mystery Agency games. We told Neil Patrick Harris we loved his escape room game Box One, and we owned his Choose Your Own Adventure autobiography, and he said “I can tell we’re likeminded people”.
